A corrosion inhibitor is a substance which, when added to an environment in a small concentration, effectively reduces the corrosion rate of a metal exposed to that environment.
There are three types of corrosion inhibitors:
Anodic inhibitors
Cathodic inhibitors
Mixed inhibitors
